Dubai Marina is home to an estimated 120,000 residents and is part of the so-called “new Dubai”. The area, which features high-rise towers with some exceeding 400-meters in height, is built around an artificial canal and was developed by Emaar Properties, developer of the world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa. It is one of the most expatriate-populated areas in Dubai today.

The district has become a convenient location of residence for many people working in Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, two large free zone hubs for various corporations. It is also in close proximity to the American University of Dubai and the Marina Yacht Club, a favorite among those who own a yacht and enjoy sailing. Most Dubai Marina apartments have easy access to a number of retails outlets such as restaurants, cafes, sports clubs and shops that make residing in the area more convenient. The beach is a 5-minute drive away and can be easily reached by foot. A large development, known as Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), is also part of the Dubai Marina area and comprises of 1.7-kilometers of high-rise buildings overlooking the sea. JBR includes 40 towers and is estimated to house 15,000 people. The Walk at JBR is the term used to describe the 1.7-km stretch of retail space that occupies the ground and plaza levels of the development. Beachgoers and families living in the area often stop by The Walk for a stroll or a meal. The 330-plus retail outlets include F&B, gyms, salons, furniture and clothing shops, bank branches, and many more.
